10. Status check/Collection of OCI cards:

A. OCI Menu FOR PIO CARD HOLDERS

The PIO carte scheme has been withdrawn. Also, the International Ceremonious Aviation Organization will accept only motorcar readable travel documents west.east.f. October 2018. B. OVERSEAS CITIZENSHIP OF India (OCI) CARD(FRESH APPLICAIONS)

1.Eligibility

A foreign national, who was eligible to become a citizen of India on 26.01.1950 or was a citizen of India on or at any fourth dimension after 26.01.1950 or belonged to a territory that became part of India after 15.08.1947 and his/her children and grandchildren, is eligible for registration as an Overseas Citizen of Republic of india (OCI). Minor children of such person are too eligible for OCI. Even so, no person, who or either of whose parents or grandparents or great grandparents is or had been a citizen of Islamic republic of pakistan, Bangladesh shall exist eligible for registration as an Overseas Denizen of Bharat Cardholder.

Benefits to OCI:

• Multiple-entry, multi-purpose life-long visa to visit India;
• Exemption from reporting to Police force authorities for whatever length of stay in Republic of india;
• Parity with NRIs in financial, economic and educational fields except in the acquisition of agricultural or plantation properties;
• A person registered as OCI is eligible to use for grant of Indian citizenship under section 5(1) (g) of the Citizenship Deed, 1955 if he/she is registered equally OCI for five years and has been residing in India for ane year out of the five years before making the application;
• Whatsoever other benefits to OCI which may be notified by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs (MOIA) under Section 7B (1) of the Citizenship Act, 1955.

Benefits to which OCI is non entitled:

• The OCI card holder is non entitled to vote;
• Cannot exist a fellow member of Legislative Assembly or Legislative Council or Parliament;
• He/she cannot agree constitutional posts such as President, Vice President, Gauge of Supreme Courtroom or High Court etc;
• Cannot normally hold employment in the Government.

Self attested copies of Indian passport of parents(mother or father) OR

2) OCI Card/ PIO menu of grandmother or grandfather along with the base papers/ documents upon which the OCI/ PIO card was issued to grandparents; OR

 Self-attested copies of Indian passport of grandparents(grandmother or grandfather) OR

   Any other proof substantiating the request.  Ordinarily applicants are able to submit a certificate of residence or identify of nascence of grandparents from Starting time Course Magistrate/District Magistrate (DM) of the concerned identify.

c). IN CASE OF Modest CHILD WHOSE BOTH PARENTS ARE CITIZENS OF INDIA OR I OF THE PARENTS IS A Denizen OF INDIA –

(i) Copy of child's birth certificate. If nascence certificate is issued by Indonesian Authorities it should be attested by Ministry of Strange Affairs, Indonesia (Kemlu) along with attested English translation. If the certificate is issued in India, should exist attested by Ministry of External Diplomacy, India. (ii) Copy of Indian passport of the parents / i of the parents OR

four) Proof of present citizenship–Self attested re-create of present valid passport with validity of minimum six months at the time of submission of application.

d) IF APPLYING ON THE BASIS OF  INDIAN NATIONAL SPOUSE OR INDIAN ORIGIN OF SPOUSE: Please upload and attach with application post-obit documents:

i) Self attested copy of present valid passport with validity of minimum 6 months at the time of submission of application.

ii) OCI Card/ PIO card of spouse forth with Indian the base of operations papers upon which the OCI/ PIO card was issued to spouse; OR

Self attested copies of Indian passport of spouse OR

D - Notice for Miscellaneous Service Applicants.

With a view to avoid inconvenience to OCI cardholders who may exist required to get their OCI cards re-issued due to issuance of a new passport, Ministry of Home Affairs vide lodge dated 22.03.2021 had granted extension of fourth dimension till 31.12.2021 to all eligible foreigners to become their OCI cards re-issued, if so required. Such OCI cardholders volition be allowed to travel to / from India on the force of their existing OCI cards bearing erstwhile passport number along with the new passport.Further, Fundamental Authorities vide orders dated 16.04.2021 has now dispensed with the requirement to re-issue an OCI card each time a new passport is issued to a foreigner up to 20 years of age and once after completing 50 years of age. Re-event of OCI menu will at present be required only one time i.e. when a new passport is issued later completing xx years of age. However, OCI cardholder volition be required to upload a copy of the new passport containing the photograph and besides a latest photo on the online system each time a new passport is issued up to twenty years of age and one time after completing 50 years of historic period. Further, those who have been registered as OCI cardholder as spouse of foreign origin of a citizen of India or spouse of foreign origin of an OCI cardholder will be required to upload a re-create of the new passport containing the photo and also a latest photo on the online system each time a new passport is issued, forth with a proclamation signed by the OCI cardholder and his/ her Indian spouse or OCI cardholder spouse to the effect that their matrimony is still subsisting.

• In case an OCI card holder who has attained the historic period of 50 years and has got his/her passport renewed subsequently but has not got his/her OCI card re-issued on renewal of his/her passport, he/she may travel on the force of the existing OCI card forth with the old and new passports.
• It is, however, advised that OCI cardholders may take steps to comply with the existing OCI guidelines in Para 1 higher up and renew their OCI cards as required by the rules.
